Clinical Mental Health Internship

ICARE prides itself on quality of service. Our clinicians undergo bi-weekly peer consultation and annual training on treatment modalities, best practices, and clinical competencies. Supervisors conduct weekly supervision with all clinicians as oversight and support are critical components of the practice.  Our internship program fits squarely within ICARE’s foundation of growth through teaching, guiding, and supporting mental health professionals.  While interns always play a major role in designing their internship experience, they must operate within set guidelines and expectations to ensure a fruitful learning experience and that requirements set by the college program are met.  


To be eligible for an internship at ICARE, students must:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program in the field of Mental Health Counseling or a related field.  

  • Have availability for office-based and telehealth therapy sessions


The ideal candidate(s) will: 

  • Have a desire to grow their clinical skills

  • Be open to working with children, teens, and adults

  • Openness to collaborate with a team 

  • Have efficient time management and organizational skills 

  • Be receptive to feedback 

Typical tasks and duties:

  • Observation of therapy sessions

  • Facilitate co-therapy sessions with licensed clinicians

  • Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy (as appropriate)

  • Completion of an internship project 

  • Engage in weekly supervision

  • Engage in bi-weekly clinical consultation

  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned
